I get lost in ClanBase !
ClanBase can be a bit overwhelming and confusing at first. When navigating through ClanBase remember these things
  • The menu on the left is your main navigation tool
  • The toolbar at the top of each page contains your private links; these links are only shown when you are logged in.
  • Almost everything is clickable: you can easily go from the newspage to a specific match (by clicking on the triangle next to a match), from a match to the corresponding ladder and from the ladder to the warhistory from a clan. To go back one page, just hit the Back button in your browser.

ClanBase Ladders

What ladders are there and how do I find out who my ladder supervisor is ?
There are separate ladders for all games and gametypes ('mods'). For each game(type), you can join the national and/or the European/international ladder. The rating system, based on ELO just like chess and tennis, is explained below.

Your ladder supervisor can be found on the rating page of each ladder, in the top right hand corner of the 'Ladder Information' box.

How does the rating system work ?
Rating changes depend only on whether the match result was a victory, a defeat or a draw. Like in any ELO system, how many points you gain after a win (or lose after a defeat) depends on the rating difference between you and your opponent before the match. The ELO formula is very complicated, but the following easy examples will give you a good idea:

  • Beating an opponent with the exact same rating gets you 60 points.
  • The maximum amount of points you can win for a single victory is 120, but to get this many points you'll have to beat an opponent who is 700 or more points ahead of you in the ranking. You already get a 100 points for beating an opponent who is 200 points ahead though.
  • Beating lower ranked opponents gets you less than 60 points of course. If they were 200 points below you you only gain 20 points, if they were 300 points below you only 10 points, and if they were 400 points below you get a mere 5 points.
  • The number of points you can win and the number of points you can lose always add up to 120. So if you can only win 30 points with a victory, you can lose 90 points with a defeat.

If a match ends in a draw you will gain points if your opponent was ranked higher, or lose points if they were ranked lower. The amount of points gained/lost for a draw is equal to half the points you'd get for a win minus half the points you'd lose for a loss. An easier way to calculate it is to take the amount of points you'd get for a victory and substract 60.

You can check the rating system using .

Note: The number 1 of each ladder has no rating points. For more information check how to become number 1 of a ladder

How do we join a ladder ?
Only the clanleader is allowed to enter or leave a ladder, using the 'Admin' link in the toolbar. When you join a ladder you start with 1000 points.

The ladder supervisor will first have to approve your clan before it is actually added to the ladders, this may take up to 30 hours. Please note that you are required to have enough clan members with GUIDs according to the team format described in the rules.

Only ladders that cover the region that your clan is from will show up on the ladder signup page. In some ladders you must have players from the ladder's region to join. Look out for the for your game to see if they apply for your ladders and regions.

I want to leave a ladder !
First, make sure there are no matches on your Pending page; you can not leave a ladder if you still need to confirm a warresult, if you are challenged or have an open match conflict ! If there are no pending matches the clanleader can leave a ladder from the 'Admin' page.

I want to join the 1on1 ladder !
Coming with your registration, you already have a 1on1 'clan'. This clan is used to participate in 1on1 ladders. You can switch 'Personalities' between your 'real' clans and the 1on1 'clan' on the 'Admin' page.

How does the inactivity system work ?
The inactivity system applies to all ladders with more than 20 active clans. This way inactive clans will be automatically removed from all ladders, except from those which are so small that removing more clans would kill them. It's normal not to play often in small ladders anyway.

ClanBase puts any clan that hasn't played a match in the ladder for 8 weeks into hibernation. After two weeks in hibernation, the clan gets a penalty of 20 points. This gives them enough time to get back into the ladder without suffering an inactivity penalty. After 6 months of inactivity, a clan is removed from the ladder completely.

If you know that you won't be able to play matches for several weeks, you can put your clan yourself in hibernation. This will cost you 32 points.

How to become number 1 of a ladder ?
The ladder leader does not have rating points like the other clans but is considered to have an infinite rating instead. This means that no matter how many points the clans right behind them gain by beating weaker clans, they'll never take the top spot. The only way for any clan to take the top spot is to challenge the current ladder leader and beat them. Only clans who were already ranked in the top 5 can make such challenges though, the others will first have to work their way up. The system forces the ladder leader to accept all challenges from top 5 clans, so no clan can hold on to its top position without defending it regularly.

Lower ranked clans can also challenge the ladder leader, but such challenges can be refused freely. If a ladder leader choses to accept such a challenge for sport and loses, they will be switched with the #2 ranked clan who then become the new ladder leader, while the lower ranked clan gets maximum points (120) for the victory.

How to request a new ladder ?
If you would like to request a new ClanBase ladder for a new game, mod or an existing game and you think there will be enough interest from other clans to make it competitive - please start a petition (or vote for an existing petition) .
Then contact the main admin of the relevant game in the . Next, we will consider adding the ladder, based on the popularity of the game or mod and based on our relevant expertise in order to provide a great working ladder.

ClanBase Cups

What is a ClanBase Cup ?
ClanBase Cups are special tournaments that usually last two to three months and are aimed at serious and competitive clans. Each year consists of 2 official cup seasons, fall and spring. Furthermore, we organize summercups, often with a special theme.
Participating clans are divided into groupes. In the first series of matches in a Cup, clans battle for the first or second spot in their group. After that, play-offs are held.
Each Cup has it's own strict rules and regulations. The cup supervisors and their admins make sure these rules are applied.

The most prestigious cups, are the EuroCups, in which only the absolute top clans of Europe participate, similar to the UEFA Champions League in soccer.
Another special kind of cup is the Nations Cup, in which national teams compete, similar to the FIFA World Cup in soccer.

ClanBase also can make the cup system available to other organisations so they can organize their own competitions in so-called hosted cups. In these cups, ClanBase is responsible for the technical operation of the system and not how the competition is run.

Only the fall and the spring cups are regarded as official seasons because part of the scene is not available during the summer.

How can I join a ClanBase Cup ?
The start of a Cup is announced on the main news page. The registration period is usually two weeks.

How do I start my own Hosted Cup ?
Starting your own cup requires dedication and usually a lot of work. First of all read this to check if you still feel up for that job.

Then gather all info you need and mail the Hosted Cup supervisor . Try to explain clearly what sort of cup you plan to run without writing too much. Be sure to include:
  • Cup name
  • Game
  • Mod
  • Team size
  • Hid's, nicks and emails of the 2 supervisors
It can take a few days before all info is verified and the cup will be accepted or rejected. You will always get a mail back so just be patient and don't contact the Hosted Chief by IRC/Mail to ask when your cup will be made etc until you are mailed back.

Challenging

How do I challenge another clan ?
You can only challenge another clan with ClanBase if you are the leader of your clan or if your clanleader has assigned you as 'trustee' or as 'war-arranger'.

  • Direct challenges are challenges where you challenge specific clans you have selected yourself. They can be made by clicking the challenge cross on the ladder's rating page or recently joined page to the right of the clan's name, or to the right of a ladder's name on a clan's matches page. The challenged clan is required to confirm the challenge, decline it or reschedule the time.
  • Open Challenges (OC) can be by members without specifying who their opponent is. Their matches are then advertised and other clans can for matches they want. The OC creator sets criteria which clans must reach, including judge rating, proposed maps and ladder ranking. Once accepted an OC becomes a regular match where all the rules in this book apply. Clans can create up to 3 OCs per ladder and cannot accept more than one OC from the same opponent.
  • Automatches are matches randomly scheduled by CB which clans set up with an . CB pairs opponents if their entry settings match each other's. Once a match is created from an automatch entry - all the same rules apply as direct challenges. Turning up to the match is obligatory. Clans can make up to 7 automatches per ladder. Times between automatch entries cannot overlap.
When you're looking for an opponent in a ClanBase ladder, you need information about the clans, apart from what you hear through the grapevine and what you known from your own experience. The ladder pages give you some extra info:
  • the rating position and the number of won and lost matches tell you something about the skills.
  • the green square tells you something about the activity.
  • the judge icon shows a page with how many matches the clan challenged themselves, how many times they did not show up and how often they cancelled a match. Next it shows the last matchreports written by opponents of the clan, which gives you an idea of what other people think about them.
This judge information is also available on every clanpage.

What happens after I challenge a clan ?
Let's assume you want to play against Clan B. When you challenge a clan, a match (in ClanBase parlance) is born. The lifecycle of a match is like this:
  1. You challenge Clan B from the 'Ladder' page, by clicking on . The match will show up on your 'Pending' page under 'Outgoing challenges'. While a challenge has not yet been accepted, you can change the properties of the match, f.e. the date by clicking on the edit button at your pending page.
  2. Clan B will see the challenge on their 'Pending' page: 'Incoming challenges'. They can choose to accept or decline the challenge. Let's assume they accept the challenge and that the match is played sometime later.
  3. After the match is played, you or Clan B can enter the results on the 'Pending' page, under 'Results to be entered'. Let's assume you are the first to enter the results.
  4. In the 'Pending' page of Clan B, the match will show up under 'Results: Results to be confirmed'. Only after Clan B confirms the result, the new ratings will be calculated

Notes:
  • More information about declining challenges can be found in the ' How can I decline a challenge ?' section.
  • You can challenge several opponents (as many as you like) for the same date and time. As soon as one opponent accepts the challenge, all the other challenges will be automatically cancelled. This should make filling your agenda a lot easier.
  • The deadline for accepting a challenge is 7 days after the challenge or 7 days before the match, whichever is later. If by the deadline the opponent still hasn't reacted to the challenge, they get a penalty of 5 points. You can set an earlier deadline for accepting the challenge yourself, but then there is no penalty if the opponent doesn't react in time.
  • Clanmembers can specify their availability for a match on the 'Agenda' page.
  • You should enter the results of a match as quickly as possible. The same goes for confirming the results entered by the opponent. If there is a disagreement about the results and one of the clan refuses to accept the result go here.
  • As you have seen by now, the 'Pending' page is an important page to check for match-arrangers.

Can I enter practice meetings in ClanBase ?
Yes, just challenge your own clan and the type of match will automatically be set to 'Practice'. The 'match' will show up in the agenda of all members.

Are there any rules for a match in a ClanBase ladder ?
Both the and the specific game rules (follow link on the ladder page) apply. If the ladder rules for a specific game conflict with the general ladder rules, then the specific rules have precedence.

What should I do if I don't agree with the proposed rules ?
Some gametypes have optional rules which can be selected while challenging. Some of those can be declined. Declinable matchrules will be mentioned at the game specific rule page or while processing a incoming challenge (the 'Declinable matchrule' option will be shown). It's not possible to decline standard rules set by ClanBase.

How can I decline a challenge ?
Challenges can only be declined if there's a valid decline reason. Valid decline reasons are:
  1. Counter challenge: You can't play on that date and/or time. You can make a Counter Challenge with a new date and/or time which your opponent can accept on their pending page.
  2. Unequal match: You have more than 1100 points and it's your opponent's first match
  3. Unequal match: There is a gap of 10 ranking positions and 100 points between you and your opponent
  4. Busy in this ladder: If you already have 2 or more matches in the ladder (or 1 or more against the challenging clan) in the next 30 days
  5. Declinable matchrule: You have been challenged with a declinable (optional) matchrule. The declinable matchrules are shown bold at the matchrules
  6. Hibernate: Your clan will go into hibernate. Pick this option only if your clan will be inactive for a while since you will lose 32 points for it

These options are only available for clans ranked number 1 of the ladder
  7. Unequal match: The challenging clan is not ranked in the top 5 of the ladder
  8. Resign: Using this option will make your clan lose it's number 1 position in the ladder

All options, except for the Counter challenge, will lead to a cancelation of the challenge.

Matchresult

How do I enter the result of a match ?
Matches that have been played automatically show up on your . If you are clanleader, trustee or war-arranger you can enter the result or confirm the result entered by the opponent. Options:
  • The score of the match.
Only fill in real match scores, possibly adjusted with punishments allowed by the rules. Filling in scores you can not proof might result in a cancel or losing of the match or even in deletion of your clan if the match is considered fake.
  • The match was cancelled.
You can not use this to cancel a match on your own; the other clan will have to agree.
  • The opponent did not show up.
A noshow is the punishment for a clan that doesn't show up or doesn't have enough players. The winning clans will receive 10 ladder points, the other clan will lose 10 ladder points.
  • The opponent loses by forfeit.
A forfeit is the default punishment for a clan violating the rules. Some rules specify other punishments so make sure you do not fill in the wrong score! The winning clans will receive 10 ladder points, the other clan will lose 120 ladder points.

An incorrect result is accepted by accident !
The clanleader of your clan should contact the ladder supervisor. You can find his nick and the link to his account on the right side of the ladder. The private message should include:
  • warid (wid)
  • the reason why your clan entered the wrong score
  • the reason why you didn't find out sooner
  • links or an attachment (zip/rar!) with proof of the score you are claiming (we do not accept demos as proof for score, screenshots of the final scoreboard only).
Note that if any of these is missing, or the message is made up in a way the supervisor can't properly read it, or the message is abusive towards anyone, your complaint might be ignored.

When entering the score I got an error message about a score total min/max !
If you played a match and you cannot enter the real score because you get an error message regarding a score total, contact your . Provide the supervisor with proof of the score and give them the error message you've received, as the supervisor will attempt to fix the problem for you.

Demos were required but the opponent doesn't send them !
The purpose of a demo rule is to prove certain rule violations. So if you DON'T suspect the opponent from cheating, then you don't need the demos.

However, if you DO suspect the opponent from breaking the rules, request the demos. If they don't want to upload them, make a match conflict. Include in the conflict report exactly which demos you want (which player and map) and what that demo exactly is supposed to proof. (note: game specific rules may demand even more, always read the ladder rules first!). Then just wait for the opponent to upload them, they have 3 days to do so. You got 4 case scenarios here:

  1. The opponent doesn't upload your requested demos within 3 days:
Just keep waiting till the supervisor handles the conflict. He will close the conflict in your favor if you didn't violate any rules yourself. No need to contact the supervisor, he will come on his own.

  2. The opponent has uploaded the demos and you agree with the score now:
Post a comment on the conflict saying that you now agree with the result. You can wait for a supervisor to come by or you can mail the crew member handling the conflict, include the war-id in the message and say that the clans have solved the conflict on their own.

  3. The demo(s) doesn't prove the accusations you made:
If you haven't got any other proof you will have to agree on the result.

  4. The opponent has uploaded the demos and they prove my accusation:
Provide the exact times in the demo that proof your accusations within the time limit specified in the rules. Then just wait for a supervisor, do not contact one.

Our opponent has cheated !
What's cheating and what's not is described in the cup or ladder rules and in the .

Cheating in a ClanBase match:
  • The score has not yet been accepted: make a match conflict. Make sure to supply all proof in the conflict immediately. In case of demos these must be uploaded somewhere (preferable ClanBase ftp) and linked in the conflict comment and you must specify the exact time(s) (minutes/seconds) where the cheating is proven. Admins will not look at entire demos.

  • The score has already been accepted: see the .

Cheating outside ClanBase:

You must submit absolute proof of the cheat, and absolute proof of the player's identity (IP match / GUID etc is the best way to do this). If there is any doubt about either of these requirements the report will be rejected. The report can be submitted . Processing the reports may take some time, after which the cheat will either appear on the , or the report will have been rejected.
Anyone making deliberate false accusations will be severely dealt with under the rules regarding abusive behavior.

Our opponent didn't show up !
In the case your opponent never showed up for the match you can enter 'Noshow' as matchresult. This 'result' has to be confirmed by the opponent. A confirmed Noshow results in 10 ranking points being transferred from the forfeiting clan to their opponent and the match is also recorded as a loss for the forfeiting clan.

Our opponent just won't confirm the result we entered !
A matchresult is confirmed automatically four days after that score was last edited. To prevent a wrong score from being confirmed or to prevent endless scoreswitching make it a match conflict! If the score is not automatically confirmed and there is no match conflict, something has gone wrong and you should contact your Ladder Supervisor to have it fixed. If you don't know who that is, surf to the main ladder page and look at the right menu.

We need to create an official match conflict...
See the sections above to determine if you really need to create an official match conflict. And if you do, please consider talking to your opponent to get things worked out. This is better for two reasons:
  • A match conflict is shown on your judge page and never looks good - even if you are right.
  • A match conflict can take quite some time to be processed.
  • If you make several match conflicts without good reason, your clan will be deleted for being a nuisance.
If you really need to create one, be sure to read and follow the exactly. You can create a match conflict by selecting that option when you don't agree with the result entered by the opponent. Note that you can not start a match conflict during the first 24 hours after the match time. Use this time to talk with your opponent.

Please bare in mind that it takes much time to solve the many conflicts that are issued. So please be patient until yours is handled. Sometimes it can take 3 to 4 weeks or even more. Please don't bother us until your conflict is pending for more than 3 months.

Why do we only get half the points ?
When you play a clan that has just entered the ladder, you get half the points you would normally get. Why is that ?
If a clan enters the ladder, their ranking (1.000 points) usually does not reflect their real strength. Only after several matches are played, a clan will arrive at the right spot in the ladder. It would be unfair to gain a lot of points by beating a newbie clan only because they are ranked too high.
This system is in effect for clans that have only played three matches or less in a particular ladder.

Your clan

How do I create a clan ?
New clans are created on the spot after filling in the form. The supervisor will first have to approve it before it is actually added to the ladder or cup it signed up for, this may take up to 30 hours. Please note that you are required to have enough clan members with GUIDs according to the team format described in the rules before you are allowed to join a ladder or cup.

How do I add members to my clan ?
After you have entered your clan in ClanBase only one member is registered: the clanleader. You can add the other members by using the 'Admin' link and then choosing 'Invite player to join'.
On the 'Add member' page you fill in the users PID, which they will get if they join ClanBase. You can only add a member in your clan who has an account on ClanBase.
After you added the new member, he will be sent a mail to confirm his membership. He can also use the link on his 'Admin' page to confirm.

How can I change the properties (f.e. homepage) of my clan ?
Only the clanleader or a trustee is allowed to change the clan-record.
If you are, you can adjust the clan information by clicking on the 'Admin' link in the toolbar.

How do I divide my clanpage into sections ?
You can make different catagories like "Management", "Players", "Inactive" etc. . Click on the 'Define a new property' link and give it a name. Now, select 'list' in the dropdown box and add your desired properties in the new textfield separated by ';'. You have to edit your members on the 'Admin' page and put them in the correct catagory. Catagories are ordered by alfabet, you cannot change this.

How can I add a logo to my clanpage on ClanBase ?
Upload the image on a site you have access to and store the URL to that image using the 'Admin', 'Clan Settings' page. Make sure it is in .gif format.

How can we assign a new clanleader ?
There are two ways to change the clanleader. The most common way is for the clanleader to assign a new clanleader, using the '' link in the toolbar. In case the clanleader is unable to do this the other clanmembers can use . The vote can only be started if the clanleader hasn't logged on to ClanBase for at least three months. When at least three members have voted for the new clanleader, the old clanleader gets a notification and has seven days to cancel the vote. If he doesn't cancel the vote the new clanleader is automatically assigned.

How do I authorize a member to take care of business ? - What is a trustee ?
As a clanleader, you can assign one or more members as 'trustees'. A 'trustee' has almost the same rights as a clanleader except for: entering/leaving a ladder, changing the clan settings, deleting the clan and changing clanleader. It is strongly advised to have at least one trustee in a clan.
Click on 'Admin' and then 'Update member details' to change the properties of each member. One of the properties that can be specified is 'trustee'. You can recognize a trustee by the * behind his nick on the clanpage.

I want someone else to do the scheduling of matches. What is a war-arranger ?
By default, the clanleader (and his trustees) can challenge other clans. However, you can assign one member to be war-arranger and let him do the dirty work. You can assign him on the clan-settings page or on 'Admin -> Update member details' (New war-arranger). You can recognize the war-arranger by the upperscript '(wa)' behind his nick on the clanpage.

  • This clan was killed by [nickname] on [date]: "[reason]":
Read the reason why the clan is deleted. This reason might include a wid (fake matches fe) or/and another nickname of an admin. If you do not agree with the reason then the clanleader should file a complaint to that admin. If no admin is mentioned in the reason, the admin who killed the clan should be addressed. Don't forget to include the cid of your clan.

What about ICQ ?
ICQ ('I seek you') is a popular internet message program, widely used by online gamers. You can download it for free from www.icq.com.
Using ICQ you can see if your friends are online, send them a message, chat, send files, etcetera. Ideal for communicating with your fellow clan members.
If you have ICQ installed, then you can enter your ICQ number (UIN) in your ClanBase 'Player settings'. If necessary you can specify if you want it to be hidden to other people using your 'Customize' page. If you set it to hidden, your UIN is still useful because some ClanBase functions can send you an automatic ICQ message (don't worry; no spam).
On each player page, there are icons to perform several ICQ functions:
  • The message icon is for sending a message using your own ICQ program.
The status icon shows the online status of the person. Red means offline, green is online and gray means he or she didn't specify to allow viewing the online status through the web. Instructions how to switch it on are on this page.
  • The chat icon issues a chat request using your ICQ program. Note: this doesn't work in all ICQ versions.
  • The add contact icon sends a request for adding the other person to your contact list, using your ICQ.
  • The page icon is for sending an ICQ message over the web (in case you don't have ICQ running).
  • The zoom icon shows more info about you, if you entered personal info in your ICQ.

In tables with multiple players (e.g. when finding players), only the message icon is shown, without an online status.
One exception is the clanpage: it allows you to see all ICQ icons of all clanmembers by clicking the ICQ menu at the top of the clanpage.
Using that view, you can see the online status of all your clanmembers, or members of other clans, which can be pretty useful sometimes.

What timezone is used to display dates and times on ClanBase ?
If you are logged in, all dates are shown according to the timezone specified in your 'Personal Settings' page.

How are things related to my game or country ?
If you are logged in at ClanBase, you will only see forum messages that concern you (your game and your country). Some messages are directed to all games or all countries, which can be specified when posting a new message. Be sure to use English when you post to all countries. Also try to use English when replying to an English message.
If you want to see all forum messages in ClanBase, simply use clanbase.ggl.com and don't log in. Furthermore, you can filter the messages according to game by using one of the subdomains: halflife.ClanBase.com, quake1.ClanBase.com, quake2.ClanBase.com and q3a.ClanBase.com.
This mechanism also works as a filter for matches, players, clans, news, links, etcetera - if you are logged in you will only see the items that are relevant.
In your 'Personal properties', you can specify if you do want to see items from other games or countries.

This feature is currently disabled. It is not clear yet when it will be enabled again, so do not ask us.

What is a 'personality' ?
The term personality is used to describe a logged-on user belonging to a particular clan. If you are in several clans you will have multiple personalities, linked in your account (hid): one for each clan. You can switch between personalities using the '' page.

In case you have different accounts (different hid's) you must link them in one account.

All your 'personalities' share several settings, like the customization options, timezone etc. You can change these settings on the '' and '' page ('Update your profile').

How to link my personalities/accounts ?
It could be that for some reason, you have more than 1 account. Because this is NOT allowed, we advice you to link them.

Multiple accounts have to be linked together into 1 account. To do this, you'll have to make a Helpdesk Ticket.

What do I have to do when I join another clan ?
The clanleader or trustee from the new clan can add you by using an existing player ID (pid). A new playerrecord will be stored which will identify you as player of that clan after you confirmed your new clanmembership in the mail that will be sent to you. You can also use a confirmation link on your 'Admin' page.

Can I be in two or more clans ?
Yes, but only if all your clan personalities are linked. Then you can easily switch between those personalities using the 'Admin' page. If not all your clans show up on your admin page, read how to link your seperate accounts.

How can I leave a clan ?
Your Clanleader or Trustee can remove you. Or switch to your 1on1 personality on your 'Admin' page and then remove yourself by clicking 'Leave -clanname-'.

With your 1on1 personality you can still login, compete in 1on1 tournaments and join other clans.

How do I delete my 1on1 personality or my whole account ?
This is not possible for users. We will not delete accounts on demand either. If you lost your password then retrieve it so you can change or remove personal details yourself. In case you are using another account, you can fuse both accounts by linking them.

Someone deleted my account !
You can see if your account is deleted on your account page (hid page). It will show a note: deleted!. In the current system, no info is stored which admin deleted your account and why so do not ask us about it. Most likely you did something very bad: spam/abuse on forums or newsitem, making fake matches, cheating (check the banlist), etc. Accounts can not be restored so if you're not on the banlist, just signup again. Note that only (a few) admins can delete accounts, this is not possible for users to do themselves.

If your account wasn't deleted but you were just removed from a clan, check with the clanleader and have him add you again in case it was a mistake. You can use the ID (pid) of your 1on1 personality for that.

GUID's

What is my GUID ?
A GUID is a number or string unique to each player. In order to be allowed to play in most ladders and cups on ClanBase, you will have to register a GUID so people can identify you when there is a doubt who is actually playing. How to find the GUID and what it looks like depends on the game.
    PC:

  • Console:
Be sure to check the rules of the ladder and/or cup you play in to know which GUID you need to register. Note that if your GUID is not properly registered, you risk being regarded as a freelancer.

I get an error message when entering my GUID !
When you try to enter a GUID the system will check if it looks valid and if it's not in use by someone else already.
  • GUID already registered:

    • On your old account:
Try to retrieve the password of that other account, and link both accounts.

    • On someone else's account:
Create a HelpDesk Ticket stating that you have a problem with a duplicate GUID. Provide the ID or the link (hid) to the other account. This link will show up in the error message you get. HelpDesk will ask you to make a UAC3 screenshot of your GUID. Everything will be explained when you open a HelpDesk Ticket.

Note: for security reasons our crew may request multiple screenshots or simply deny the request (in this case you should wait 72hrs before trying again). This is purely to protect accounts from being taken over by evil deceptive monsters.

  • Invalid value: find the GUID again in your game and try again, copying it exactly. Read the correct section about your game's GUID again to see some examples. If it still not works, mail your ladder/game supervisor and ask him what's wrong with your GUID.

Do not post your GUID on the helpdesk or anywhere else, unless a CB admin tells you too!

Forum, IRC

Does ClanBase have IRC channels ?
Yes, ClanBase has many IRC channels. Go to our for an overview, our policy and a tutorial.

The main channel, which is also ClanBase Radio's IRC channel is #ClanBase. Our helpdesk IRC channel is located at #ClanBase.help.
Each game also has it's own subchannel, f.e. #ClanBase.cs, #ClanBase.ut, #ClanBase.CoD2 etc.
All of the channels are located on Quakenet.

How does the forum work ?
The forum is a message board containing threads: messages and their replies. If the sender of a message was logged in, the name will appear blue and clickable. A white sender name means the sender was not logged in and there are no guarantees for his or her identity.
In your 'Personal properties' you can specify if you want to ignore anonymous messages or not.

ClanBase forums are meant for exchanging information, and -not- for messages without any interesting content, such as "School sux" or "I'm home from ballet class". These messages are refered to as 'spam': information that is only of interest to a small group of people or to noone at all, with the exception of messages that directly address people when ICQ or email is not sufficient.
Please note: There is a message delete policy on spam and on insulting or offensive talk, which can even lead to player or clan removal.

See also 'How are things related to my game or country ?'.

And: Moderation policy.

Miscellaneous

I don't receive an email from ClanBase !
The mail server uses a system to lower its load. Therefore it can take some time before an email arrives. Also your email provider might be slow. Wait at least 24 hours before complaing or trying again. Be sure to check your spam/junk box. Sometimes ClanBase mail is considered as spam.
If it still won't work you might want to try another email address, preferable from another provider. It's highly recommended to use a real mail provider instead of free web based services like hotmail and yahoo.

Hotmail is by far the most annoying email provider since they classify almost all ClanBase mails as spam or junk. Follow these instructions to disable the 'protection':
Go to: 'Options' -> 'Allowed and blocked senders' -> 'Allowed senders' -> type in "clanbase.com" -> click "add to list"

How can we display a list of ClanBase matchresults on our website ?
We've created a special page that outputs JavaScript function calls for all matches of a given clan. By including a special javascript tag and a set of custom javascript functions you can display the matches you played in your own format.
For more information .

If you wish to use a local time different from GMT you need to parse the date string, adjust the hour and replace "date" with "parseCBDate(date)".

function parseCBDate(str) {
var parts = str.split(' ');
var time = parts[1].split(':');
time[0]+?; //adjust hour here
document.write(parts[0]+" "+time[0]+":"+time[1]+":"+time[2]);
}

Just add x hours to time[0] and you got your local time.

Is it possible to have specific laddernews?
Yes it is. Glad you asked. Every ladder has it's own news section where the ladder supervisor and ClanBase admins will post news that relates to the ladder. Typical ladder news will be about rules changes, about upcoming matches for the #1 positions, about new mod releases, about prominent clans in the ladder or about fakers or cheaters who have been caught. Only the headlines will be shown on the ladder page, clicking on a headline will bring up the news item.

Clanleaders can even submit their own clan- or laddernews .

Someone hacked my account !
Let's start with a little explanation. Your account was not hacked. Either you shared your login details knowingly, unknowingly via spyware/virus or someone guessed your password. Read here how to get your account back.

How to solve other problems:
  1. Your clan has been deleted:
It will not be restored. Learn from the experience.

  2. The "hacker" removed the clanleader:
Report the case and all details to the HelpDesk by opening a HelpDesk Ticket and ask them to re-add the clanleader.

  3. The one who took over my account made a fake war:
First get your account back if you haven't got it back yet. Then the clanleader should mail the ladder supervisor with the warid(s) that is supposed to be fake. Contact the 'opponent' of that match to ask if they want to help getting the match deleted. If they want to, have them also mail the ladder supervisor to confirm it wasn't played. Otherwise you will have to convince us in another way that it's fake.

  4. The members of my clan were removed:
    Just add them again.
