RotterdaM shocks the world; the interview

The 19-years-old Kevin "Rotterdam" van der Kooi shocked the world today by beating some of Europe's (and the world's) finest in order to win the EuroCup trophy.

Having shined on the international stage on several occasions this year, going undefeated through his ESWC group and finishing second in Asus Summer, no one saw it coming that this replacement player would go so far.

All fans expected a tight match with a tight victory from NoA, as team speedlink had beaten NoA yesterday in winner bracket war. But it seems like NoA had a great day today, as they have beaten 4Kings and then team speedlink with a great supremacy. The match was not even tight. Team speedlink did not even stand a chance to turn things around as also the score indicates. But at the start it did not look like NoA is much better. In fact, team speedlink showed more.

Team Foe has won he EuroCup Grand Final against a-Losers, beating their fellow Swedes 3-2 in another thriller of a game.

Counter-Strike Final will air on DK TV

With the Lower Bracket match where NoA defeated Four Kings there is only one match remaining of the Counter-strike EuroCup LAN, the Grand Final. In collaboration with GZTV the Grand Final will be live on DK4 on Danish TV starting from 3pm CET. The live broadcast is being commentated by the danish shoutcasters from GZ.TV.

4Kings could have revenged NoA for that starting loss, but this match proved to be the supremacy of NoA. NoA was playing a good terrorist side, as they got a minimum win 8-7, but then they proved to be well organized as counterterrorists and managed to make a magical 8-0. 4Kings did not find any good solutions against NoA'’s defense and even more: they made terrible mistakes by headless running around the map which gave NoA sure information on where 4Kings were moving. But after all, 4Kings tried their best but it was not enough to beat NoA.

FOE has won the grand final in an extremely tense game over fellow Swedish team

a-Losers. FOE came from the winner bracket and had a 1-0 map advantage, so they only needed to win 2 more maps. a-Losers managed to make the score in maps 2-2, so it came down to that last map to decide the winner. In that 'fifth' map it even came down to the last 20 seconds to determine our new EuroCup champions in Quake 4 TDM: FOE !

La Grande Finale

Tomorrow we will be graced with the Grand Final of the Warcraft 1on1 Tournament. Rotterdam the last minute replacement for SK.Deadman has progressed through the Winner Bracket after defeating 4K.Grubby and then Mouz.Sase.

Undoubtably an unexpected final with two fellow orcish Dutchmen, in particular because Grubby progressed to the final having already lost. In order to win Grubby will have to win two best-of-3's, Rotterdam will only have to win one. If RotterdaM wins he will be hailed as the ultimate replacement having recently beaten the player who he replaced (SK.Deadman) in WC3L yesterday 2-1.

We will cover the Grand Final in full on the main stage with audio cast as well as live video stream courtesy of GzTV and VODs thanks to Radio ITG.

The Day 2 Recap

On day two, the EuroCup ClanBase LAN finals slowly progress to the climaxes in Quake 4, Call of Duty 2, Warcraft III and Counter Strike.

By the end of this day, Call of Duty II would see its EuroCup XIII champion. Warcraft III would only have its Consolation Final played, which would be between Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen, Kim "SaSe" Hammar. However, the action with Four Kings, NoA, GoodGame and Speedlink for Counter Strike was yet to commence.

Grand Final: Check6 versus Dignitas

With Dignitas' solid performance versus Tek-9 especially Trainee & Danes they sealed a 16-12 victory on Dawnville. Therefore Dignitas will once again face Crow and his crew of mercs in a Check-Six versus Dignitas rematch. Dignitas coming from the Lower Bracket will have to defeat Check-Six twice due to the tournament following the double elimination format.

Tek-9 came close to another surprise on CoD2 EC-LAN finals. It was really a close call that ended in favor of dignitas with the score of 16-13. It was all about good attack and bad defence.

Most bet their money on NoA, and it looked like that was the case in the first rounds, but something went wrong for them in the second part of the match...

Grubby: Can't Dutch this

Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen had a weekend of mixed emotions. Losing to RotterdaM was definitely a huge dissappointment for him and an upset for a very large part of the Warcraft III community. However, Grubby bounced back after a long night of sleep and wasn't as sloppy as he was against RotterdaM. In that match, a few mistakes cost him the game.

Today, only on the first map his game wasn't flawless and lost too many units early in the game when SaSe attacked with Ancients of War. Nevertheless, in round 2, Grubby showed his resilience and played convincingly ever. He won 2-1 and qualified himself for the Grand Final for fellow countryman Kevin "RotterdaM" van der Kooij, making it an all-Dutch matchup.

Team NoA takes on 4Kings

Team NoA pulled off an unexpected victory with a very poor round by Four Kings Intel as CTs on de_train trailing behind 4-11 despite a supposed advantage as CT. After changing sides 4K made a comeback to make it 11-10 but then lost 3 matches in a row and were forced to eco. NoA then took 5 rounds straight to seal the deal at 16-10.

Day 2 Begins!

All the CB admins are alive and kicking as the players start to prepare themselves for Day 2. Today will mostly focus on Counter-Strike 1.6 5on5 & Quake 4 TDM but will also see the Lower Bracket Final for Warcraft 1on1 and Call of Duty 2 5on5 as well as the Grand Final for CoD 2 5on5. As we did yesterday will we have coverage from DJWheat, RedeYe & Rome from Inside The Game as well as a guest caster appearance from Serious.Zerter.

Today we kick off the Counter-strike with Four Kings versus Danish boys Team NoA as well the Quake 4 TDM Lower Bracket Round 1 match Against All Authority versus A-Losers.

I lost the count on some point of the match how many rounds zEm took for the Check6, he took 1on1 situations, 2on1 situations even 3on1 situations. He really was in flames and has to be selected as the man of the match, maybe even the whole tournament.

The big surprise on CoD2 EC-LAN just waited to be announced. I think not anyone thought that Speedlink would be the team that would be heading home after just one day. But tek-9 just were too much this time for Speedlink and that leaves the Speedlink score on LAN to devastating zero wins, two loses.

Check Six have gone from a team in control, totally dominating their EuroCup group without breaking a sweat, to total collapse due to internal and financial issues.

However, it must be said that their short while of dominance was rather impressive as hardly anyone thought that teams with the caliber of Speedlink or Dignitas would have to bow for such a team.

It raises one of the biggest questions the entire EuroCup LAN finals. How well this totally rejuvenated team, which would be described as a "mixteam" by many, do?

The answer lies only days away when the Call of Duty LAN finals commence on friday. To kill the remaining hours until the action stations, let's check out their road to the EuroCup Lan Finals.

Finnish superstars interviewed

The last time when there was Finnish talent in the Call of Duty EC finals, was exactly one year ago when idle.ee aka schoolgirlz faced teams such Ocrana.ATI, riZe and WHO Crew. The Finns managed to get the well deserved 4th spot while WHO Crew took the 3rd spot just after riZe and Ocrana.ATI.

Now, again we have Finland chipping in the pool of Call of Duty's finest players and they will all gather in Denmark at the LAN finals. However, this time it is not an all-Finnish line up.

This weekend, team FOE, one of the four finalists for the ClanBase EuroCup in Quake 4 TDM has replaced Patrik "zyvve" Siren by the last minute stand in Mikael "PURRI" Tarvainen.

They were forced to take drastic actions when zyvve would not attend the LAN finals.

Next stop on the built up to the LAN finals, today we put the magnifying glass on the other upperbracket winner for Call of Duty 2: tek9.Steelpad.

Although this Belgian based team has changed quite often over the course of this EuroCup seasonand, tek9.Steelpad is one of the few teams that have been around to stay for for several years straight, both in the first and second CoD game.

Tek9 is a team that took part in almost every single EuroCup in Call of Duty, but never actually made it to the final stages of the competition. Until the CoD2 era came upon us...

Quake 4 coach rules

After some requests were made for the possibility to have a coach present at the LAN finals, we've been discussing this and have decided that it is ok for quake 4 clan's to have 1 coach. This coach cannot be on teamspeak or ventrilo or a compareble program and cannot be on a pc in-game. A coach can only stand behind or near his team.

I do want to also tell all the clans to please please remember there will be a tv station present. So please make sure all of the players and ESPECIALLY a coach, standing behind the players, are dressed up representing your clan and any possible sponsor in the nicest possible way. Some nice clan t-shirts alsways do nicely on TV :)

Open for spectators

If a television broadcast and several live internet broadcastings are not enough for you here is some good news. Starting 08:45 CET each day, 22-24 September, we will be open for up to 100 spectators.

Feel free to stop by and experience topmatches in four different games firsthand. There will also be an area to hang out with fellow gamers and players of the event.

team speedlink is now qualified for the Counter-Strike EuroCup LAN finals making them the fifth Swedish team with a chance to fight for European fame. The world's premiere competition for Quake TDM is reaching its greatly-anticipated climax. Four teams will battle it out on viking territory in Denmark from September 22 for the EuroCup XIII trophy.

Although the illustrious title defenders iCE cLIMBERS will not participate, the Swedish Quake 4 scene is represented as strongly as ever. Three teams have made it to the final four of the tournament: FOE, Legacy of the Mob (lm) and a-Losers.MSI (aL). The fourth one to complete the finals is none other than one of the strongest Quake 3 TDM and CTF teams in the world, Against All Authority (aAa).

Four Kings Intel informed us earlier today that they are unable to field a team for their match on Wednesday vs NiP, which gives Ninjas in Pyjamas a place in the Lan finals.
