Teamspeak is easy to work with .
Works fine as long as you talk one at the time otherwise it gets fucked up.
We were thinking of switching to ventrillo but we wil wait for ts2 and give that a try first.

The problem with teamspeak is its backround noises. When person starts talking, you are not able to hear game voices accurately. Voice sighs too much. Fixing these problems would make teamspeak more user-friendly program and even grow the number of active users around the world.
Maybe this isn't the right place to talk about the disadvantages of TS2 but..
Keep up the good work.

TS is a fab tool to have and a must have if you ain't got it. We use it in our clan with upto 20 players on with no strain. Thanks for this wonderful tool TS Team. What would we do without it....

TS Works Very Good!!!

TS is a nice program, but the thing most important of a voice com program is the lag. Speak must arrive at the other users as fast as possible, and with teamspeak there is easily 1 sec. between transmits... TS2 should work on that to get even better!

Only thing needed is native ALSA support <3

well im using ts no for a year and i think it is great i like it verry much and with wars we can always talk some good positions so it is verry helplfull the only thing that could be better is the lay out i think if oyu make the lay out some more colerfull than it is verry cool and than i think it look more profesional

I've used TS during some wars, with 6 people on it at the same time. ADSL 2048/512 here and it was crappy as hell. Only if ONE person speaks atta time it's ok. But interferance is hell! And no, it wasn't only me. All clan members had the same prob. We've switched to Ventrilo since then and I'd die for that proggie. It's fast, and you can argue all six atta time Sorry guys, but we'll give it another shot when TS2 is released.

I think it's the way you do your settings..

HI just wanted to say that if you put the channel settings as high as possible when you create a channel and dont forget to equal your personal settings to the channel settings ( e.g. codec speex 16.3) . Every time you start TS2 you have got to do your speex codec setting over again.. Altough it remembers your button to talk, your speex is always standard 5.1. You need at least 16.3! When you do this, quality of speech is good.

the TS developers should consider several speak buttons imo.

buttons to speak in a certain channel.

i.e. If i am an attacker and only want to talk to the co-attackers i press button X which is bound to channel A

if i want to speak to the defenders i press button Y which is bound to channel B.

If i want to speak to everybody i press button Z which is bound to "broadcast" my voice over all my channels i've joined.

This last option of course should be an item which could be disabled on public TS channels so that lamers cannot voice-spam all channels <img src='http://www.clanbase.com:8000/smiley1.gif' border='0' width='16' height='16' align=absbottom>

this would also be nice if you train against eachother, you could talk to your own "ingame team" or to all your mates.

Our Gaming group occasionally compares different voice servers to stick with our best option. Teamspeak2 simply has an easier interface and many options others don't have,which we take advantage of,including Channel Commander,Record options,etc....

Ventrilo has better sound quality and a nice chatroom option,multi-tier ability for channels,Voice phonetic alerts.

Since our group is larger and we play games which sometimes involve Multiple Squads/Platoons. We opted for TS2 and are glad we did. Please keep updating it with features keeping us loyal to you guys. Thanks alot!!!

Actually Ventrillo uses a better voice protocol which would result in their quality being greater. Also has the raw rcon layout that ts lacks. TS is ok software but your gui is ugly.

TS2 is better with the new features but it's a bit late with the transmission.
RW is much faster with that only less user friendly things.

yep TS2 is da bomb, superb quality (we use the 14k codec) and it doesn't seem to affect game lag at all.

One thing if you have problems try changing TS2 from using Direct Sound to Wav in the options!!

its ace, works real well, our clan uses it outside gaming just to chat and that. And with 70+ members no one has a prob with it cept mac users. (but then who cares! hehe!)

Every time I run this app with bf1942, it slows my game down. Rgr wilco doesnt do that.

I had a match today and teamspeak messed up my windows im sure. Just alt+tab to it and the whole system goes into a 5 minute "crunch". Nothing respondes for at least a minute and my hard drive was going nuts. On top of that the voices were super slow and full of noise.

you can just host ur own if u have a decent connection ( i can run ts2 server on my 2mbit connection no lag problems even with the whole clan on about 10 of us) and i can play and do other stuff at same time easily

To be honest not had a single problem with game voice my self. Runs really cool and is very clear especially if 1 of your clan sets it up on a server. Team speak is good though, not knocking it but what came out on top and 2nd if team speak was 3rd ?

To change the codec you need to change the codec from ur channel!!!! Go to EDIT CHANNEL when you have channel admin rights. There u can change it.

TeamSpeak2 00wnz y00...with all voice programms I used before, my pc crashed after using them a while, like Roger Wilce (also not so good quality voice) and with TeamSound it keeps crashing even when I reinstall it or re-download it and stuff. It crashed every single time when I press the red close button. Battlecom uses too much bandwith for a good quality sound (no crash). Teamspeak1 used to crash too.
Teamspeak2 no problems at all for about 2 months now <img src='http://www.clanbase.com:8000/smiley4.gif' border='0' width='16' height='16' align=absbottom>. Only one thing, sometimes when someone is on ts2 he/she begins too SSSSSSSHHHHHHHHH (anoying sound). And sometimes there is a stotter (prolly from lag).

I think the people of the TS crew are doing a hell of a job. I use patch 2.0.23.23 now and haven't encountered any serious problems yet, neither do my clan or befriended clan R&B. I think people having problems, like voice activation not working haven't put much effort in setting their client up. I promise you guys, do it and you will have the best voice-com software available. The GSM codecs are excellent and it is all for free!

We are using TS2 during games but it often happens that my TS2 crashes during the game...the crash:
Its impossible to shut the programm down
All sound is gone from TS2 (quake still is good)
Wehn i use task manager to shut the TS2 process down windows generates a blue screen saying: IRQ_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL
and my computer reboots......

Anyone know how to solve this problem?

Every voice program needs some time setting up and tweaking things like microphone volume and sensitivity.
The only thing my clan noticed was that the sound in-game was stuttering unless we use wave instead of directsound. We play UT2K3.

Thats why it is not the final version but a RC (Release candidate).
Every program has its problems, even when testing is not finished yet, but I have to say one thing:
TS2 is the best voice-com I tested yet - and according to the fact that I know what to do (beeing a betatester is good you know =) I never had problems with TS2 RC1...

Uhhm...

TS-1 was a bit slow.

But TS-2 has s many bugs and problems, if you are in CS.
The standart latencity settings suxx, it lags in CS. If you change your latencity it works, but sometimes it doesn`t work fine because one of our players (not the same everytime it`s a diferent one) has probs, so that there`s only noise and no speak, also with TS-2 you can`t use the voice activation mode as well. At TS-1 it works fine, but now you hear everytime "rauschen" or backround sound, no mader if you turn this control to the left side.
If I want to enter our server with "quick connect" the prog doesn`t enter the server with the right settings, with the normal connect it works, with the same settings.
And the new version looks good, but the old one was easyer to control for new users (some of my freinds have had some probs.) [for example it saved the connection settings better]

Bought to download it. I am a multiple year user of Game Voice (and many other *sigh* voice-chat applications).

What I do NOT like about GV is that it is BLOATED code and I have no way of setting "sensitivity" for CHAT (yes for commands I know, not the problem).

What I DO like about GV is that it has a super amount of different options to configure. The hardward (I'm on my 3rd unit, but this one has not "shorted out" thankfully) is sleek adn user freindly. The headset (PS-1 = Plantronics.. was a very nice choice, quality piece of equipment .. I have a HS-1 as well).

who charged u and for what ? ts is free and has alqays been, at least as long as i know it. its the only prog that works for everyone and offers different channels. so far we tried all proggies available but this is the only one wich works for all clanmembers and we r not going to change it in the near future, maybe if the next version comes out

TS is currently better then GV, TS isn't super audioquality but every1 can use it. this isn't the case with RW,GV,BC and all the others.

I really liked teamspeak - but if you can stomach handing out the dosh - then Microsoft Gamevoice 1.5 seems better now they have a server element and the hardware gives an edge making channel selection easy. So thats what our clan has plumped for. Works great over modem too with very little lag. All the best with teamspeak. P.S. the room stuff in TS is sadly not there in GV :-(
