Interview with mr. C. Booky

"Booky is my name and gambling is my game"
Talita interviews mr. C. Booky

Several people have asked me if C.Booky really exists. You have probably all seen his picture on his personal homepage but I guess this just won't satisfy paranoid minds. I decided to put an end to all rumours (some have even suggested that a member of the CB team is in fact C.Booky !) by doing an interview with the man himself.
My previous encounters with him suggested that I better be carefull not to be too inquisitive or impertinent so I carefully weighed each word I said to him and I made sure to laugh at all his jokes.

"Mr. Booky, I am honored and grateful that you have invited me to your house to do this interview."

(...)

"Okay, uhmm. One of our readers asked what the 'C' in your name stands for."

"I don't see the relevance young man, but it's Christophe. My friends call me Chris. And what's up with your name: "Talita" ? I got a niece with a name like that ! Are you a faggot or something ! Hah !"

"Hahahaha ! No Mr. Booky - please, I assure you I am not. But maybe we can agree on a simple rule for the rest of this interview: I ask the questions - you give the answers.
I'm just joking ofcourse !"

"Yeah, whatever, smartass. I'll do whatever I like. Tell me this: why are all these skando's leaving the coppa ? It seriously messes up my bookkeeping and it's bad for business. Have you pissed them off or something ?"

"Well, no not really. It's the internet mr. Booky. Bad connections and stuff like that."

"Hahahaha ! And you believe that ? Bad connections in Skandinavia is like pinguins in the Sahara. These guys are no Vikings - hell, they are lemmings, jumping off their fjords ! Whahahaha."

"These are strong words mr. Booky. I'm not sure if we can post this on our family site.

While we are on the subject of the internet: there is much talk about it and some say it will change our lives and the economy just like the industrial revolution in the beginning of this century. What are your views on this mr. Booky ? Is it just a hype ?"

"Don't talk to me about the industrial revolution kid. I was there. I worked from 4:00 to 19:00 in a factory for 10 years until I found a more profitable business, hehe.
If there's money to be made it will be a success son. Are you ?"

"Well, uhh, we have a very special uhmm business model: we have noticed that only internet companies that make giant losses are taken seriously and we are doing our best to spend as much money as we can."

"That's a very careless attitude kiddo. I spent my whole life trying not to be careless. Women and children can be careless. But not men."

(Hmm. I've heard these lines somewhere before)

"I will keep that in mind and so will our readers I think."

(checking my notes for next question)

"So this grande LAN finale of that Eurocoppa thingie. You'll be doing that in a typical dutch windmill I guess ? A coffeeshop maybe ? Come to think of it: are there any coffeeshops located in a windmill ? You dutch hypocrites would love that wouldn't you ? Hahahahahahaha."

"That's very funny, hehe. But I think we are getting slightly off-topic here. The LAN finals will be held at a very special location Mr. Booky, I can assure you that. We will come up with more details real-soon-now.

I hope you won't take this the wrong way Mr. Booky, but the winners of the first round in the contest that carries your name (Robo, Vos and Firehoppir) say they still haven't received their prizes. I guess it's the dutch/swedish mail messing up as usual.
Uhmmm, you did send it to them, did you ?"

"Does it look like I need someone like you to tell me how to do my business ?"

(Getting rather nervous. Fiddling with pencil)

"You are right. That was rude. I will tell those three guys to just be patient - I'm sure they will understand.
Uhmmm. I think all my questions are answered at this point Mr. Booky. I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciated you taking the time to answer my questions."

C. Booky lights another cigar, begins with his paperwork and seems to have forgotten I even exist. I decide to just leave the mansion. In the train back home, going through my notes, I realise that hardly any of my questions are answered...

It may seem like a strange advice at this time, but I would like to urge you to continue to place your bets. For all his rudeness, C. Booky really is a man of honor and there is no reason to fear that he will not deliver on payday.

Talita,
