Valve has set the bar for many things in the video gaming industry, and maybe with good reason. If you take a peek at their New Employee handbook, you can see it is not a completely "normal" company.
I would say they seem like a great company to work for, and knowing several employees there myself, I know they have a good time and love their jobs.
Venture Beat recently posted a story about 4 things you could learn from Valve. Great read, and the handbook is definately inspirational. I wonder how many companies knows how many children their entire staff has?
The section in regard to failure, and being allowed to try out things you burn for sounds great. It could be interesting to find out if that holds true. Valve is still a company, and not a social community. There has to be results, numbers delivered and targets reached.
While we wait for CS GO, this is a good read. Kudos to Valve for that one.
