Michael Fassbender to star in an Assassins' Creed motion picture
by: Hybris
A lot of rumours have been going around since Ubisoft decided to create their own movie studio, Ubisoft Motion Pictures. It seems some certainties about one of their upcoming projects have been divulged according to an article published by Variety.

According to Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, 'Michael Fassbender was our first choice to play the franchise's iconic hooded hero'. Fassbender has previously starred in box office successes such as Inglorious Basterds, X-Men First Class and Prometheus. There is no mention of which character Fassbender will portray: will it be Desmond Miles, Altaïr, Ezio Auditore or yet another assassin?

The Variety article also mentions the plans of current Ubisoft Chairman and CEO Yves Guillemot to adapt other Ubisoft franchises such as Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon into motion pictures. An Assassins' Creed movie will certainly not be the first movie endorsed by Ubisoft; most of you will remember the rather failed Prince of Persia movie.

I don't think he's regarded as an athletic person. Personally I'd rather he didn't play any role strongly tied to either game's protagonist.

Although I did like him in X-men and Prometheus, he just doesn't look the part for this one.
