Steam and L4D2 coming to Linux
by: Romeo
Steam

If you ever toyed with the idea of dumping Windows from your PC for a shiny Linux distro, but got discouraged by the limited gamin opportunities, then you my friend, are in luck.

Ubuntu

Steam was already present on the penguin side of the fence by providing dedicated server bins for popular Source games. Valve plans to take the support to the next level by developing a full fledged native Steam client for Ubuntu.

And what gamer would care about all this, unless some actual game was involved?

The first lab mouse that Valve intends to bring to the audience is Left for Dead 2. For now, they are in the process of optimising the game so everything runs as smoothly as it does on Windows.

Ubuntu was chosen because of its popularity, but the plan is to support multiple Linux distributions.

Be sure to follow the linux blog of Valve for more news as they become available.
