Celebrating 10 years of modding with ModDB
by: MadUSA
After launching way back in June 2002 when Altavista was still the no.1 search engine, Google was just an up-and-comer and Twitter / Facebook didn't even exist, today we celebrate ModDB.com 10th year online.

Since then we've survived all manner of doomsday scenarios such as the 2006 "PC gaming is dying" catastrophe, when "closed-off non-modding friendly consoles" were set to take over. We've survived the great DLC avalanche of 2010 when previously mod-strong games like Call of Duty and Diablo announced you'll have to buy updates from them. Despite this modding is as strong as it has ever been, with millions of modders continuing to share their creations on ModDB.

Scott Reismanis, the Founder of ModDB, commented "whether game creators encourage it or not, people love to tweak and change their favourite games. In the end we all win, give a modder complete creative freedom and the result is the creation of timeless classics such as Counter-Strike, DOTA and more recently DayZ which millions have played." Check out our Hall of Fame for some of our favorites.

All in all, over 17,000 mods have been added to ModDB (with nearly 33% released) and ModDB look forward to playing many more over the next decade. Fans can read ModDB's 10 year summary and a detailed history of the site complete with stats and old screenshots as ModDB celebrate their great milestone.

Congratz from all of us on ClanBase.
