Hello Onkel, How did you get elected as Nationcupleader?
Hey orbi. Well it wasn't really an election, I've been leading the team for several seasons. Last year I handed it over to mattiz, but he has been so inactive lately that I decided to take on the job again. I got some experience from NC tournaments and I know most of the highskilled players in sweden very good. Last time when I was captain we reached the finals, so no one had any problems with me being leader again.

Taking a look at your cb page we see the wellknown oldskool players and some new guys, who are they? |
It's funny that people think of them as "new" players. They have been playing this game for a long time and I guess people often underestimate them. I've known them for some time and never questioned their skills. People seem to have a hard time accepting that players evolve and do get better. I remember playing frow, zetor and meta some years ago when I could kick their asses, but now they would spank mine any day of the week.
We all know that skills come (and that's normal) with strong personalities, how do you cope with that? |
I've had some trouble in the past trying to get everyone to get along. But our team now seems to be happy this year and we're having a great time together. Some of our players like to flame from time to time, but they usually obey when I tell them to shut up :p
Do you guys still practise? What is a good player made of in your opinion, fe. 60% experience & 40% skill? |
We dont really practise that much. We all know eachother pretty good and most of our players already played together in fbang, shame etc. So I guess we're playing on skill, but still have a decent teamplay. I value experience alot more than skill and aim in a tournament like NC. There's no use having a player who just has aim and no brain. Still we have some players who lack experience from the big tournaments, but I think we have a good mix of both in our team. 60% exp and 40% skill sounds about right to me.

Your next opponent is the UK. They won pretty close against Portugal, a country which you quite bashed, what are your expectations for the next cupmatch?
I expect a closer game than the ones before. Not only because I believe that the UK is a better team, but also because of the map. Salsa is not a map that is played that much, so we have to focus rather than going on autopilot/fraghunting like the wars before. It's still a match that we should win though, I think we will win with 16-8 or something like that
We all know that the teams topping the 4 groups right now are the favourites to play the semi finals/finals. Do you see yourself as a possible winner? if so, who might be your opponent in the finals?
Ofcourse I think we can win. We seem to be the favorites to do so, together with nl. It depends on how the teams get placed in the semis, but I'll say Sweden - Finland for the final then :). Germany and Netherlands also have good chances of taking the gold. Both semis will be really close games, and anyone could win it.
Most of us are playing this game longer than 5 years already, how do you keep your players motivated?
It's always good to get the guys motivated and in the right mood before a match. The best thing to do is to get some internal jokes going on. With shame we got some good ones like "VM-FINAL" and "chet". Also grow can be a motivation machine with his "kom igen nu gubbar". I'm not going to explain these, like I said they are internal jokes :)

Last question, which criteria should a good (NC)leader match up to?
Well, he has to know the players, not only how they play but how they are as persons. Let's be honest, just because some guy is captain doesn't mean that he is the best player. It's also good to have good relations to the other nations leaders, in order to get the games as fair as possible. Oh, and you have to be sexy. Thats all
