I always did appreciate all the work you put into running the cups, and I also said that to you on multiple occasion.

And I'm still not tolerant towards certain idiots trying to push their crap onto people who are just trying to play a game, effectively saying they'd rather kill it than play 'unfair'.

I thought it would for sure be fully over when I finally gave up the struggle & my clan retreated (also for personal reasons, my eyes got screwed so couldn't game anymore). But seems like you got permission to start with 10 instead of 12 clans, wasn't so last time. I hope you can squeeze some more fun out of iCTF in this game

Imo it's really hard to ban someone when you dont have an anticheat, that explains why you've seen only 1 person being banned so far.
Unless the cheater is really obvious (happens in public, but rarely on CB), most of the time you wont even notice it and a demo cant help much, unless it's obvious.

There was that russian clan, SS18 or something a couple years ago - although it was horrificly obvious. 160 ping and check that screenshot

This cup has been played without any anti-cheat a few times already, without any major incidents. In fact, the only actual ban I can recall was during a season without anti-cheat.
There have been some accusiations from time to time, but most of those were made right after (or during) a game when emotions were still flaring (guilty of that myself aswell). None of those were turned into actual investigations or even bans however.

Now the cup has gotten even smaller since then, and the players, once more, are all pretty well known. While that is no guarantee that every is clean ofcourse, I would feel better about being beaten by someone I actually know to be a good player, then a person I never heard of.

Forcing any form of anticheat in this game has mostly been a cause of problems, instead of a solution, f.e. XRAY a few seasons back.

Thanks for not outright deciding to just drop out, and I have good hopes you will still make the right (or at least most social) decision to give this cup a chance

There's at least an anticheat in 2k4 iCTF cup (antitcc), while Losah wants this cup to be without any anticheat at all.


We'll of course discuss it internal before taking any decision, but really this is nonsense for me playing a cup (competition) without any counter mesure against cheaters, i'd rather play a friendly war or public where we can have an anticheat.

Still doesn't change the fact that no newsitems were made about anything, and the supervisors didn't seem to care about this cup at all.

Your clan participates in the 2k4 iCTF cup where there is no wrex, why not play here either then? The players are mostly the same, just a different game, pretty unlikely that someone would decide to just cheat in one game, then play clean in another.. surely suspicions would arise and the case would be looked into.
Your clan has the first week free, I would highly appreciate it if you could think about this a bit more, before just dropping out.



A C&A profile also goes to people that have postingbans, or for freelancing for another clan. While I don't think any player should be foul mouthed, or freelance in a game (and they should be punished for it, as they are when proven) neither should be considered cheating in my eyes.
Players that have a profile will always be looked at in a different way, but you can't for a fact say that they still cheat. I'd be for a rule that makes it mandatory for them to upload every demo, albeit ineyes or ssd to more easily take away.

Unlike in 2k4, where wrex was used and thus tested in Hosted Cups before being forced in Open Cups, these cups did not even have a newsitem mentioning anything about a possible use of wrex. Think this is a major deal that should have been pointed out from the start no?
And since Tirforman (and eFFeN, but I at least know his reasons) clearly couldn't be bothered doing anything to get this going, I think it's more than fair for LoSaH to take over and actually get this cup running his way.

It's too late now to suddenly start forcing wrex for this, since it would mean reconfiguring the already scarce amount of servers there are left, and for now it's far more important to try to keep this game alive at the very least.
If you want to drop out now because your precious isn't going to be used, then you are on the same level as actual cheaters in my book; killing the game, but by different means.

I have no issues against having to upload each and every demo of every match I play in order to get this cup going if need be, the cup is small enough and the people involved are all pretty much known (from previous UT3 cups, or from the 2k4 scene) so I am pretty confident this cup will be without any major incidents.

If your reasonment was good, we wouldnt see anymore cheaters in UT series, but facts are here, there are still cheaters after all those years.
No matter the game is old or dead, you will always have cheaters around.
I dont think most of the teams/players are cheating but i really cant understand you prefer use no anticheat at all.
Thinking cheaters are inexistant in this game while there was no anticheat for many years and most cheats are free is just being utopist.

Why would people still cheat in a game that died more then a year ago? I don't know what's wrong with you. It seems you think 99,99% of the persons who are still playing UT are cheaters. Every player/clan who beats your clan are possible cheaters in your eyes.

Imo, you should try to play with Ui.

The only reason because they cup is going on is because we had just 10 clans which is the minimum for hosting an OC.
