Q3A RA3 Cup Spring 2004

After going through considerable turmoil and apparent inactivity, the cup was "taken over" by former admins (Vertigo and myself) to put an end to its misery. What happened here, by my reckoning, is not only due to the carelessness of the actual supervisor (Technics) and his inactive sidekick (Cleaner), but also to what appears to be a rapidly-declining interest in RA3 from most of its community. Granted, clans faced with inactive admins can't do much in the way of forcing things to move on, but such is my feeling that the RA3 community is dwelling in apathy and complacency, thus boding an imminent death, although how imminent I cannot tell.

What the factors are for this is beyond my competence and it isn't my desire to start a controversy over this (although I may already have started it by posting this). Both sides (admins & players) could blame each other for the sad epilogue of this cup for days on end and not find an actual culprit, although admittedly the admin(s) didn't help much, if at all.

As for me, although after the last Nations Cup I thought I'd never do any form of work for ClanBase -- and didn't want to, either -- I'd been supervising things in this cup during its first stages, although not in an obvious, apparent, official way, and it only made sense that I put a tiny amount of time in finishing what others couldn't be bothered to finish themselves, along with Vertigo, who set off the first motion in this direction.

I dare not say to you people that "we" hope to see you next season, for the state that this present cup ends in is a bad omen of things to come for ClanBase, RA3 and the Fall 2004 season. I can only hope that I am wrong, but either way I will not have a part in it (other than as a player, should anything happen), and so this time I take my leave for good, with my apologies (for what they're worth) for how abnormally long this cup dragged on.

Hello everyone -- well, if anyone in the world is still reading whatever's happening down here, I'm back, although against my will, to fix a certain nasty, nasty mess that you've all come to know as this here cup. Against all odds, the first division final was played between clans sL and EK and was won by EK, who finally got something else than their usual 3rd spot. A report will, or should be coming soon from one of the admins who were present at the match on last Monday.

Concerning division 2, none of us here have a clue as to what happened to it, and so we're left with asking the concerned clans to contact either me or Vertigo through IRC (#clanbase.q3.ra3 as usual) and, well, let us know what happened, or if anything even happened at all so that we may all put an end to this thing and move on. Thank you, and see you soon. Or not, as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully.

Rebelgamers vs. Evil Killers

Rebel, being one of my favourites for this years cup winner, but by loosing two groupmatches, one against sorelosers, which was really nice XD and one against Freakleagion (by default), they could only reach the second spot in Group D. But hum, who cares, they still have drush and they've won in a fucking close game against tm :P.

The german powerhouse EK played very well in this cup so far, by winning all of their groupmatches they finished first in Group C. They only lost two maps, one to arrows from denmark and one to seppuku from germany. Too sad that they are quite inactive at the moment.

I think this is going to be a really close game, with lots of +back and +crouch "actions", leaving rebel on top, by winning 2:1

The 7th Chapter vs. Infernum

7th, the number one .dk team since 3 years, they've won all of their groupmatches without loosing a single map, which is really impressive. They allways done well at clanbase by ending 2 times with the third place.

The austrian team Infernum, one i really didnt expected to reach the playoffs, but by recruiting guys like Boss and Brezze, they finally managed to get an succesfull team. Ending the groupstage by beeing second in Group A, they've done very well. Ok lots of their wins were default wins, but who cares. They reached the playoffs and showed us that they know how to play.

In my opinion 7th should handle Infernum easy, but who knows. I think the austrians are good for some suprises. Well, this match will end pretty close by 2:1 for 7th.

Sorelosers vs. arrows

Now my team, Sorelosers, maybe the suprise of this years cup, winning against rebel quite easy, losing against tm by default, ending groupstage as first of Group D. Maybe they are kinda young but they allready have a fucking good teamplay, which can allways decide a match.

And another team from Denmark, arrows! This guys are strong this year, ending groupstage at the second place behind the Evil Killers. Showing great skills by losing close to EK. They might have the power to win against lots of teams, but do they have the power to win against sl? We'll see :)

Hm, really not easy, cause I dont want to be biased :)

The young sorelosers against the old arrows, who'll win, I really dont know, but it'll be fucking close, maybe 2:1 for sl. The third map, and there will be a third map, will decide the whole match!

Thx tuscon for the predictions!
