Reply | We were contacted few weeks ago by a member of the community who introduced us to this little scene. We felt honoured and thrilled at the same time and our decision was to invest something. After few exchanged emails we decided to put Slovenian team Messrs in charge of organisation (signups, groups and making sure everything runs smoothly). No worries, we’ll keep an eye on cup as well.
The cup will start only if there will be 24 or more signups, however the prizes may change, depending on the amount of signed-up teams:
24-31 teams: winner €500, runner-up €250, 3rd place winner €150, no bonuses,
32-47 teams: winner €1000, runner-up €500, 3rd place winner €300, bonuses per win,
48 or more teams: winner €1500, runner-up €750, 3rd place winner €450, bonuses per win.
They have also published a planned schedule:
Signups phase: 23rd of October 2010 - 13th of November 2010
Groups being made in week from 14th of November 2010 - 20th of November 2010
Group stage: November, December 2010
Playoffs: December, January 2010
(Final 4: last week of January 2010)
It's also written that there might be possibility to play the Finals on a LAN Event.
The signups are currently open for teams and admins aswell.
Personally I think it is a great opportunity for teams to participate on this event, not only because of the amazing prizes, but because of the great feeling that CoD1 has.
If you are interested, just go to the cup site where you can read much more information.
I am also really glad to see that there are still companies that are interested in supporting CoD1. Last season DieHardServers sponsored the CoD1 OpenCup, now there's this event, and there is chance to organize some prizes for the currently running CoD1 OpenCup aswell |

Reply | btw, could someone provide a proof from that credit4u company which clearly say they would sponsor such a tournament? I mean who the hell would want to sponsor and make his publicity on a dead game like cod1 which can't even be sure to get 24 active teams?
Morever, we all know ikky's behaviour and it could be one of his "joke" (sorry ikky if i'm wrong but admit we can have doubts about it). |

Reply | Wow, finally someone said it... There were tons of things like that in the past... I remember even few fake lans.
First of all 'credit4u' has nothing to do with gaming - and as we all know nearly all sponsors of every tournaments are somewhat related to gaming or computer/internet industry.
Second, if such a cup were to be run then it would have a professional INTERNET SITE. Not some kind of a low blog.
Third - there would rather be a CoD4 tournament cause its active and lots of ppl would be interested in this.
Forth, the news about antycheat is most likely the biggest hint that its a fake! Nearly before every lan there are internet qualifications... And no one made an antycheat only for the purpose of such a event. Its not worth of a time. (Only ESL could do something like that)
Fifth and not last... The guy who wanted to do this contacted me some day at Cod1.wars... ^^ This is the last place to annouce something like that.
Tournament with money prizes would be annouced and organized more professional and surely not in a dead game.
Most likely its just some apathetic joke. If this is real than dan will eat his shoes!
Well... thats how it looks for me at least. |

Reply | I am sceptical aswell, this why i have sent an email to them and in case there will be no answer during this week, i will phone them.
If it's just a fake story, guess they won't be happy of that and i hope they will take actions. |
