30 fps with decent laptop? - lexi - FIN  - Wed 15 Feb 08:23

new laptop, specs should be good but I'm still getting shit fps (no more than 40 on bridge) and im runnin the game with the lowest possible settings.

specs of the laptop ;
AMD Radeon HD6470M (1gb)
RAM 4GT
AMD E-350 Processor, 1600Mhz, 2 cores-
HDD: 500GB
WIN7 Premium
x64 based PC

on this laptop I also have norton 360 antivirus.

im pretty confused as my old laptop (which is now fucked) could run mohaa easily without any sort of problems with specs that to my knowledge should be far worse.

Any ideas why such low fps? and yes its a major problem because everytime someone shoots the fps drops to like 15

Any help would be much appreciated!! xx

scanned computer with malwarebytes anti/malware and norton 360 and no infections found.. and its a very new laptop so i doubt its infected. My knowledge of gfx card drivers is poor, but I tried to install some drivers I found available for this gfx card on AMD/ATI website but that didn't solve the problem. I can try reinstalling mohaa i'll let you know how that goes. Thanks for the reply anyway and the last option is just not gonna happen

if u got 2 process, launch moh, ctrl+alt+sup, right clic on mohaa.exe, select affinity, remove one process ( cpu 0 or cpu 1 doesn't matter ), wait a bit, watch ur fps it should up. when it's ok, just put the process u remove again and have fun. Work well on my laptop

I had similar issue with my laptop. It was a matter of drivers in my situation. When I installed newest I had same problem. So I changed them to older one, and problem was fixed. It seems that newest drivers are not always the best.

40 on bridge sounds about right, you're cpu limited. 1.6ghz is simply too slow

mohaa uses only one core, but i guess the other core would be useful if u use uac.
1.6GHz is idd quite low
mohaa requires a good cpu, mine with 3.16GHz was sometimes giving me some lags so I had to overclock it a bit.

When mohaa was released, the average cpu speed was below 1ghz...so to say 3ghz is too slow (Sometimes) is rediculous. 40 fps on bridge would not be down to cpu, but drivers, or perhaps overheating (very likely with laptop).

this was what came to my mind as well, when mohaa came out I used to have a desktop that had much worse specs than my current laptop (and I mean 256mb ram, 64mb graphics card, processor I don't even remember but I'm sure that was worse than my laptops current one as well) I've also tried the affinity thing that was suggested above and driver updates/older drives, so far no fix. I've also got another prob with this laptop as when mohaa launches it dosn't use the fullscreen for some reason.. it opens up as a narrow window that leaves space on both sides that still show the desktop even though mohaa is launched which is a bit annoying.

Could be a resolution problem. Your monitor might not be 4/3. Try some custom resolutions that fit to the size ratio.

r_mode "-1"
r_customheight "y"
r_customwidth "x"
x horizontal, y vertical

MOHAA, in my experience, is really CPU-limited. I had a intel dual core @2.2GHz which was enough for 60Hz gaming, but not for 100Hz. Intel dual core 3.16GHz was better but I had to overclock it a bit to have no problem in warz ever and public with many people + mods, with 100Hz. 125Hz is also not a problem.

Of course I'm not stating it must be the cpu model responsible for this, coz I don't know much about components, but still, it wouldn't surprise me it's the reason why he has 40fps.

com_maxfps 100

ctrl_alt_del / terminate explorer.exe and other resource taking processes

btw do you get fps drops when some1 shoots you, or makes a voice taunt?
i downloaded a mohaa version without the dropsounds i reckon and without the voicetaunts and it doesnt seem to make me lag anymore when i get hit/or when some1 makes a taunt
