We are continuously trying to improve our ladders which lead us to yet another Global Ladder Rules update. Global rules apply to every ladder on ClanBase and you can find them at the end of each ladder's rulebook page. Not knowing these new rules isn't an excuse for not following them. Without further a due, lets dig in.

In the last couple of months ClanBase has faced a certain amount of issues in regard to our server set up and especially surrounding our demo server.

As you noticed you are and have not been able to upload demo’s to the ClanBase ftp demo server for a while. The good news is that we are testing our new set up at this time and will be live for BETA at this very moment. You might have noticed that we were struggling with the amount of conflicts in certain games. ClanBase daily receives a lot of demo related conflicts in all kind of games and working with third party websites made us struggle with the amount of conflicts to be solved.

From now on, each clan and player can upload their demo’s to our brand new demo server. This set-up will be BETA and when problems occur please contact your ladder/cup supervisor. They can make an exception to upload your demo to a third party website. All other demo related conflicts or free flight demo’s should be uploaded to the ClanBase filesystem.

We have unfortunately lost a large number of demo’s in this time, and even though we have tried to recuperate and salvage the demo’s our efforts have been in vain. Many of the demos are back from 2009 and 2010. However this also influenced a lot of demo's from the end of 2011 which had demo related conflicts. Even with third party file hosting, many of these sites do not offer extended time hosting of files, which means that demo related conflicts are not being able to be solved due to the fact that files are no longer available to us.

In order to resolve all outstanding demo related conflicts we have made a big but necessary decision, based on the fact that we are missing so many demos. We have, after careful deliberation and discussion, decided that we will close ALL demo related conflicts created before the 1st of November 2012 with a cancel match if the demo was not available (anymore) in the conflict. This means that the war “was not played” and you or your clan will not lose any points. This does also means that we can not take action against any infringements from the match.

We will also implement a grace period, in regard to demo related conflicts for the previous month (November 1st). So if you have a demo related conflict, where the demo is not available to us, but you can still provide it, we will handle the conflict (please add the demo to your conflict via the conflict page before December 8th 2012). All other demo related conflicts prior to November 1st 2012, will be cancelled as mentioned before. Adding your demo to those conflicts won’t get your conflict handled.

Should anyone provide us with non-related demo’s we will due to the workload at hand have to punish them according to our rules.

We would like to take this opportunity and apologize for the caused inconvenience during the last couple of months, as well as the aggravation this decision surely will cause among many players. We are improving our services day by day. If you have other related questions, please feel free to contact our Helpdesk.

Each of you may of noticed some downloading going on with steam. Black Ops game developers are finally recognising some issues with the game and have made some changes. The most exciting change of all would be the edits for mods. With a Promod on the horizen we can hope this is the start to something good.

Updates to Call of Duty: Black Ops have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Call of Duty: Black Ops
- Free For All matches in the Recent Games menu in Theater now appear as “Free for All” instead of being displayed as “Team Deathmatch”
- Addressed several items that did not correctly reset to their default state when using the Default System Settings option
- In the Combat Training Change map menu the player can toggle between the default and DLC maps using the arrow keys on the keyboard
- When the UAV is active the radar sweep movement is shown on kill streak menus that bring up a map for the player
- Added option to disable player emblems in the “Settings”, ”Multiplayer options” menu
- Addressed crash when a player accepted a game invite while rendering a clip
- Addressed various exploits
- Allow modded servers to enable cheats
- Added ability for mods to remove dvar/commands from restricted lists. So mods can remove dvars they don't want user to have access to. Also increased the mods restricted list to 256

Quite some time has passed since the closing of the ROCCAT cup. Alot of discussions have taken place and ALOT of head aches have been caused. I am of course talking about player Kaast who was competing in the winning team Addiction. For those of you who are not aware of this situation, allow me to give you a summary.

Once upon a time there was a young Spanish Gamer named Kaast. He was thought to be a good player until strange things began to happen and players began to question him. Admins tried and tried to find concrete evidence to which to stop him from his naughty antics. then one day the sky turned blue and birds began to sing and UAC3 busted him for X22. And there was rejoycing in the streets and beer and wine flowed. Finally justice came to the little Spanish boy and the world was clean again......?

Due to Kaast being found guilty of use of X22 he was banned for a period of 12 months. Unfortunatly the ban took place after the Tournament had concluded and under Clanbase rules nothing could be done with the cup results as no proof was found to show that he had cheated although accusation was made. However thanks to a committed effort from the Clanbase crew Kaast was foudn to be Returned While banned (RWB) and this has meant that we could disqualify his team from the cup for using a banned player.

The cup Result has now been changed as follows.

Premier League
RankAwardClan
1stFinland Paranoia eSports
2ndNetherlands system gaming
3rdIsrael e-Srael Gaming

Due to the other players of Addiction being innocently disqualified for the antics of their cheating comrad it has benn decided that the reminaing four Addiction players will recieve consolation prizes of the ROCCAT mouse pads. This was thought to be fair to them as they were affectivly robbed of first place prizes.

We hope that this matter is respected by the community and we apoligise for the time that it took to solve it, how ever the result is well worth while. Cheating will not be tolerated.

ClanBase Call Of Duty Black Ops are looking for at least 5 established and active players to join the ClanBase CoDBO democrew. In a game that is without a strong anti cheat demo crew form an important part of ensuring the people that continue to ruin our community see justice.

If you can spare between 5 and 10 hours each week and would like to help out in the community please follow the directions below.

In order to qualify you must:
    • Have a traceable playing history and an active ClanBase account
    • Have no record of cheating or bans on CB
    • Be willing to spend a decent amount of time watching demos and note-taking

This is not a ClanBase crew position, however having demo-watching experience will look good on applications for the CB crew, as well as it earns the respect of fellow game players. If your application is successful you will be invited to attend an informal chat on IRC with ClanBase crew members.

Interested in helping out in your communty? Then apply by sending an application to via PM to Shifty over CB PM system.

We have implemented possibility to be challenged while hibernating. This comes very handy when both clans are hibernating.

In default it will be unchecked in clan settings when clans goes to hibernation. But when you want to be challenged you can check it.

Allow challenges while hibernating [ ] (When checked, clans can challenge you even while hibernating in ladders).

Today is an important day for the Black Ops Rulebook.

We have worked hard to try and establish the best way to deal with several new challenges that have come up in the last few weeks. Some are easier than others to deal with. We have tried to listen and understand the voices of the community and it is our hope that these new changes will enable us all to move forward and enjoy a cleaner more fair community for the game we all love to play.

Most of the controversy has been around the use of config editing tools and players changing their settings to allow them to better play the game. Now we are aware that FPS is not the best for Standard settings and that in order to achieve a better fps in most cases requires some tweaking to the config that you use. This has been a practice in every game that has configs such as Black Ops. All Call Of Duty Series have had Config edits.

Allow me to explain the dilema we have had. Each other Call Of Duty Game using dedicated servers has had a means of restricting the use of settings. By which i mean Punkbuster. Punkbusters cfg files allowed admins to say what can and cant be used on a players settings, if you used some thing wrong then you cant play, simple. Black Ops does not have such a luxery. Without Modtools we can not run cfg checks for unwanted settings. What we can do is understand the settings that you can apply and understand how they affect your game. We can see if users run third party programs when in game to aid their efforts and we can trust in anti cheats such as VAC and UAC3. Between every thing and the support from you (the community) we can restrict those that wish to abuse the system and enjoy a cleaner game with out the worries.

    New Rules:

Config settings that give a distinct advantage over the opponent may be deamed config abuse and can lead to a forfeit loss depending on severity of claim. Such edits include use of removal of scenery and objects. These will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to see if they do give an unfair advantage. Such cases will be handled using Used a forbidden script as described in the ladder punishments table. In extreme cases can lead to a more stronger punishment. Programs such as Riva Tuner and ATI Tools are prohibited from use and if found to be using them will results as above. If your not certain if you are allowed to change a setting, please DO contact a ClanBase Ladder Supervisor to check if this change is allowed BEFORE using it.

    EXAMPLES
    Acceptable
    Not Acceptable
Click to see a bigger version Click to see a bigger version
Click to see a bigger version Click to see a bigger version

These are just some examples of many available. We will ultimately be looking for any settings that give an unfair advantage. There are many settings that can be changed and it is not easy for us to go through them all one by one. We can say that in cases where it is decided that the user deliberatly adjusts settings we will not look favourably on them and in some cases could result in a BAN. We do consider config abuse to be no different than playing with a wallhack!

Where Bug use gives an advantage to winning a round the score may be changed to reflect the use of that bug. Such cases will be handled using "Used a forbidden script" as described in the ladder punishments table. In extreme cases can lead to a more stronger punishment. Such cases will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may lead to a forfeit loss.

Below is an example of clear abuse of a defuse bug. In this situation the round that was won was given away to the enemy. First Offence recorded. Future violation can have stronger results. Please note that if any one decides it is clever to do this, every situation you do it is one violation so do it twice in 1 game and get 2 violations.

Any types of scripts proven to give a real advantage or are part of not allowed binds/scripts below will not be tolerated and will result in a forfeit loss.
    Not allowed bind and scripts:
    • any 'exec' or 'vstr' bind (this does not include anything related to demos or demo players)
    • any bind including 'screenshot' can only be bound to the F12 key
    • any bind including 'attack' cannot be combined with any other command
    • any bind including 'frag' cannot be combined with other commands/binds
All binds/scripts that are not covered by above not allowed scripts/binds will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to see if they do give an unfair advantage.

The Demo Client is now going to be enabled standard on servers. This change will be made to the cbwar.cfg that you upload to the server. The hope of this is it will allow spectator access to people who suffer from demo recording bug error in future wars. NOTE: Demo requests are still required for conflicts.

    New Command: demo_enabled "1"
